Our raison d’être (Reason for being) is to:
Enable change in individuals, whanau and communities through sustainable small business.
To do this our progress is one person at a time, 

• Mā te huruhuru ka rere te manu (Adorn the bird with feathers so it can fly)

It is a strong mix of building confidence alongside capability while bringing passion to play with practicality.

The vision does not change. In so doing we want to improve the lives of whanau (family) and community by enabling participants to realise their business dream. ​A by-product of this is that small business supports regional economic growth.

Our DNA is buit on the following core values:

• Faith (Ngākau pono)
  • Having a true heart, being loyal, faithful, dependable, and sincere. 
  • Allowing wairua (spirit) to be present, engaged and involved.​
• Respect (Ngākau Whakaute)
  • To respect, show respect, tend, care for, prepare.
  • Ka whakaute ahau i ahau ano (I will respect myself.) 
• Inclusivity (Peke katoa)
  • Katoa (meaning) all, every, totally, wholly, completely, without exception; used to indicate that something is all-encompassing, all- consuming or all-conquering.
  • Nāu te rourou, nāku te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi
  • acknowledges that everybody has something to offer, a piece of the puzzle, and by working together we can all flourish.
  • That people across varying identities are and feel valued, welcomed, respected, included, represented, and heard and that they fully belong, can be authentic, can contribute to the collective, and have a voice.
• Innovative (Auaha)
  • Auaha (meaning) to shape, create, form, fashion something from an idea to reality.
  • Introducing new ideas, methods, or products, or improving existing ones, to create value or solve problems.

• Integrity (He toi whakairo he mana tangata)  
  • The integrity of ones character is seen in what they produce.
  • Integrity involves aligning your actions with your values and principles in a consistent and uncompromising way. 
• Kindness (Manaakitanga)
  • Kore rawa rātou e wareware ki ēnei manaakitanga ā mate noa rātou. (They will never ever forget this hospitality until they die.)
  • Kindness is a behaviour type marked by acts of generosity, consideration, rendering assistance, or concern for others, without expecting praise or reward in return.
